| Report Light shifty wind plagues the Larchmont NOOD regatta. Saturday: In addition to the fickle winds the Soverel 33 class was started five minutes after the eighteen boat J/105 class, so part of the challenge was to pick though and around the J/105s as smoothly as possible. Mark rounding were especially crowded: the Soverel 33s, Melges 24s and J/105s were mixed up with Shields and Ranger 33s who were lapped by the second weather mark. [no mention of Soverel 33's in the official NOOD write up, but photo shows Deviation up in the middle of a bunch of J/105's] t2p.tv recorded some of the "exciting" action, see http://www.t2p.tv/guide/lycnood05.php Sunday: Much of the same, but day started out with a little more wind and a more aggressive race committee. It was very tight racing and a couple of places changed in the results. Both day's races had some very exciting finishes. |
