Fleet 1 - Northeast

My name is George "Mark" McCarthy, and I have volunteered to run Fleet 1 for 2002. I wanted to take a moment, amongst all the e-mails, to distribute the Fleet 1 - Northeast 2002 schedule for Soverel 33 racing. Please let me know if you can committ to attending any of these events.

Please note, we are adding a Fleet 1 championships at DIYC this year, and we expect this will be a great warm up for the nationals, four weeks later. If we get commitments early, we plan on a perpetual trophy. Also, the weekend after the Long Island Sound Championships, DIYC is hosting an overnight - DIYC Overnight - DIYC to Block Island - 8/16, for those that are interested in waking up at Block Saturday at noon, for mudslides or bloody marys at The Oar.

I have not been able to get confirmation on the AYC dates above, if anyone knows them, please share so we can complete this schedule for our website.

As Peter d'Anjou has stated previously, this class will only succeed if we can get every owner to travel at least once or twice a year to attend Soverel events. Simply, the more participation in each event, the more
enticing our class will be to potential buyers. At Duck Island Yacht Club, in Westbrook, CT, (my YC) there is one existing soverel (2 Thirsty, SVM #21) and I have recruited two more potential buyers. We expect to have at least 3 soverels by mid summer.

The Soverel 33 Class had gained huge momentum in the past year, and the officers would love to continue this momentum. This discussion group is a huge asset, thank you Bill Heintz (Deviation - TAR #89) for setting it up!

Please show your commitment to the class by paying your dues and committing to me to come to the nationals or other events listed above.
